Direct Fit Ford 2.3 Crate Engine in RWD configuration to fit MTX75 Pattern Gearbox.

Ford Focus RS 2.3 and Mustang 2.3 Engines are now thin on the ground and to be honest they were not that strong in the first place, the rods were known to bend at medium high torque levels and the pistons suffered cracked ring lands more often than Ford would admit.
The Old RS / Mustang Engine is not available as a Brand New ready to bolt in Crate Engine kit and when is was available the costs of 6000+vat without an ECU plus were quite expensive.

Pumaspeed have been developing this new specific 2019 onwards Crate engine package for some months, we thought it was a very logical to use the new readily available and cheaper 2019 spec 2.3 motor as it has much stronger rods and the pistons dont crack.
This new 2019 spec Ecoboost style motor is found in the new FWD Focus Mk4 ST with 280bhp and the RWD Ford Ranger.
The RWD version and FWD version fit the MTX75 style Gearbox pattern ( you will see an image of the bellhousing pattern on the website.)

Supplied ready to plug in with the SCS Programmable ECU and the wiring instruction this crate motor could be a very simple solution for all Historic and Kit car conversion needs.If you are needing a rear wheel drive power plant of 250-400bhp with the included turbo or upto 440bhp with an optional Pumaspeed Hybrid we feel it offers amazing value.

We feel this400bhp power unit makes perfect sense for any rear wheel drive application such as
Ford Escort Mk1
Ford Escort Mk2
Sierra Cosworth
Mazda MX5

Power Testing.
We dyno tested this new 2.3 RWD Clevland type motor with a Syvecs ECU on an engine dyno. It had unlimited exhaust flow and unlimited cooling, the engine gave quite ashtonishing power and torque, 400bhp is certianly achevable and over 600nm was recorded as low as 2500 revs.
Back to back testing of this new motor vs the old spec Ecoboost saw 40bhp more in the mid range.
boost for boost on RS and ST 2.3 motors saw 40 bhp more with this version.
As a package unit for a kit car we beleive this unit has to be the future and with added Hybrid turbos we feel it coudl make 450bhp for a bargain price.

Whats the same as the RS ?
The external dimensions are identical to the 2.3 mustang / Focus RS
The bell hoiusing bolt pattern is the same as is the crank bolt pattern. This basically means everything in the transmission for any RWD 2.3 Ecoboost conversion will fit this motor.

Whats different to the RS ?
The turbo runs an electronic wastegate not vacuum like the OLD RS.
The included inlet manifold suits the Mustang application with entry at the lower front not in the middle like a FWD application.
We have opened one of these motors to inspect and assess its strength, we found the pistons to be a better design and the rods to be way stronger than the older 2.3 Focus RS Ecoboost however we know the limits are 600nm. Forged Parts are available to enable 650nm to be delivered reliably if required.
