A fully reconditioned genuine Ford 1.6 EcoBoost cylinder head, complete with camshafts, valves and valve springs and ready to bolt straight on. Every head is pressure tested and crack checked, then the gasket face is lightly skimmed for a perfect seal. It is the fast, proven fix for a cracked or overheated 1.6 EcoBoost head on a Fiesta ST180, Focus 1.6 EcoBoost or any other Ford 1.6 EcoBoost engine, at a fraction of the price of a brand new head.

What has been done to this head

• Pressure tested - the water jacket and oil galleries are tested under pressure to prove the casting is sound.
• Crack checked - no cracks - the combustion chambers, valve seats and coolant passages are inspected and this head has passed.
• Gasket face skimmed - minor resurfacing to give a flat, true face for the new head gasket to seal against.
• Fully built - supplied complete with camshafts, valves and valve springs fitted, so there is no stripping, lapping or shimming to do.

A brand new complete 1.6 EcoBoost head is over £800. This fully tested, fully built head gets the car back on the road for £660 inc VAT - and because it is a genuine Ford casting, it is exactly what the engine was built with.

Why 1.6 EcoBoost heads fail

The 1.6 EcoBoost is a strong engine, but its cylinder head is sensitive to overheating. A failed thermostat, a coolant leak, a tired water pump or a blown head gasket can let the head run hot, and localised overheating around the combustion chambers is what cracks them. The symptoms are familiar: coolant loss with no obvious leak, white smoke, pressurised hoses, a misfire on cold start or a sweet smell from the exhaust. Once the casting has cracked there is no reliable repair - the head has to be replaced.

Before you fit any replacement head, find and fix the cause of the overheating. Fit a new thermostat, check the water pump and radiator, and bleed the system properly, or the new head will go the same way.
