Built to be used, not looked at
We have been recovering vehicles for over 20 years. We got tired of budget winches that died in the wet, so we designed our own.
Sealed against the weather
Fully sealed electronics and an upgraded water-seal package. The part that normally kills a cheap winch is the part we spent the money on.
Pulls its rated figure
6.1HP series-wound motor, 265:1 three-stage planetary gearbox, hardened steel gears. 6,123kg on the bottom layer, not a marketing number.
Here, not in a container
Stocked in Wakefield, WF2 0AJ, off J40 of the M1. Order today, it ships today. Collect in person if you would rather.
Why our rope is 22m and not 25m
22m is 2 metres more than most competitors put on a 13,500lb drum — and it is 3 metres less than we used to ship. Both of those are deliberate.
We sold 25m ropes and we stopped. 25m overfills the drum. Once the rope stacks too high it spools unevenly, rides against the drum flanges and drops between the wraps underneath. Next pull, that buried wrap snatches tight and the rope jams or bird-nests. On synthetic it chafes and flat-spots the fibres, and a chafed rope has lost the strength it was rated at.
There is a second reason that costs you on every pull: every layer on the drum increases its effective diameter, and the bigger the diameter, the less the winch pulls. Your full rated figure is on the bottom layer. Three extra metres on top buys reach you will rarely use and takes power away from every recovery you do.
22m fills the drum properly, spools flat and keeps the winch pulling at its rated figure. If you need more reach, use a snatch block — it gives you the distance and doubles your pull at the same time.
Why synthetic rope, and when steel still wins
We sell both, and we fit both. Here is the honest case for each, from twenty years of using winches rather than just selling them.
What synthetic gives you
- It is about a quarter of the weight of the same length of steel. You can walk 22m of it out to an anchor point one-handed, up a bank, in mud, on your own. That is the difference people notice first.
- It stores almost no energy. If steel parts under load it can come back through the air like a whip. Synthetic goes limp and drops. That is the safety argument, and it is the real one.
- It floats and it will not kink. Steel takes a permanent set when it kinks and a kinked steel rope is a scrapped steel rope. Synthetic pulls straight again.
- No barbs and no rust. Frayed steel cuts through gloves. Synthetic does not, and it will not rust solid on the drum over a wet winter.
- Kinder to the winch. Less weight on the drum means less inertia on every start and stop.
Where steel is still the better buy
- Dragging over rock, edges and gravel. Abrasion is what kills synthetic. If the rope is going to be sawn across a kerb or a rock lip every time, steel takes it better.
- Heat. Long, hard pulls heat the drum, and sustained heat weakens synthetic fibres. Steel does not care.
- Left out in the sun for years. UV degrades synthetic slowly. A covered winch is fine; a permanently exposed one on a recovery truck may be better on steel.
- Cost per metre. Steel is cheaper to replace if you chew through ropes.
Looking after it: rinse the grit out after a muddy recovery, let it dry before it goes away wet, keep it off sharp edges with a sleeve or a spare mat, and respool it under light tension now and then so the wraps bed down evenly. Do that and a synthetic rope will outlast the job it was bought for.

Will it fit my vehicle?
The winch uses the 10 x 4.5 inch industry standard bolt pattern, so it fits any standard winch bumper, winch tray or mounting plate.
It will not bolt straight to most vehicles on its own. You need either a winch bumper or a mounting plate. If you do not already have one, add our heavy duty mounting plate.
Not sure? Message us with your vehicle and what you are pulling and we will tell you exactly what you need. We would rather talk you into the right one than sell you the wrong one.

Questions we get asked
Does this include the mounting plate?
No. This is the winch and its own kit. The plate, cover and isolator are sold separately.
Will it recover a 3.5T vehicle?
Yes. Rate a winch at roughly 1.5x the vehicle weight and 13,500lb covers 3.5T comfortably, including winching up an incline.
Can I fit a longer rope?
You can, but read the rope section above first — we shortened ours on purpose. A snatch block is the better answer.
Do you do trade prices?
Yes, on volume. Message us.
