Who it is for. Quads and ATVs, small boats, jet-ski and car trailers, and the portable winch kit. 4,500 lb is plenty to pull a quad out of a bog, a boat up a slipway or a small car onto a trailer, from a winch light enough to sit on an ATV rack or a trailer A-frame.

Why this one. Everything needed to fit it comes in the box: universal plate, bolts, brackets, control box and harness. Two wireless remotes and a handlebar rocker switch mean you can winch from the seat or from a safe distance. Fully sealed solid-state electronics for mud, water and dust.

Rope or cable? The red synthetic rope with alloy hawse fairlead is the lighter, safer line and the usual choice on ATVs and boats. Steel cable with the roller fairlead for abrasive yard use.
