The B58 motor in the F Series M140i and M240i is ripe for tuning straight out of the box. With a completely standard M140i running 99 RON fuel we have seen up to 435bhp and 560nm! The torque and power delivery below 2500rpm is very similar to stock meaning power isn't wasted away in pointless wheelspin, therefore you can actually use and enjoy your mapped BMW on the road and track without worrying about it spitting you off the road into the nearest hedge!

Building on the guys at MAXD many years of experience tuning BMWs of all shapes and sizes, the B58 calibration has evolved from the comprehensive understanding we already have of the intricate world of BMW tuning. Don't confuse this with the more generic 'off the shelf' calibrations some companies can provide, these are bespoke, and relentlessly refined files with hours of dyno time behind them, they truly are world class calibrations! 

Not only has this tune proven itself to have the best performance increases available on the x40i B58 motor, it also features optional extras including cold start delete, crackle/burble add on, recalibrated sports dials, speed limit removal and more. 

As you can see from the graph below, not only are the peak figures hugely impressive, the mid range gains are immense! 

Torque is up almost 100nm from 3000rpm all the way through to 6500rpm, the result is not only a more impressive figure on the dyno, but a far faster and more usable car on the road at any point in the rev range, in any gear.

With some simple breathing modifications such as aftermarket cat back exhaust and intake, our 1R calibration can see even greater figures with up to 440bhp and 570nm on tap, incredible numbers for such a small outlay.

This MAXD Stage 1R workshop fitted remap is designed to run with the stock catalytic convertor still in place. It will run a totally stock vehicle or run with additional breathing hardware to produce up to 440bhp (Yes - that's 440 bhp on a stock catalyst!). We recommend high grade fuels only for MAXD R spec maps, however if you only have access to 95 RON fuel, no problem, we can simply offer a slightly milder stage 1 file with a 15-20bhp and 20-25nm reduction to suit the lower quality fuel.

Is it safe for my car?

The B58 engine has proved remarkably simple to get incredible power gains from, it really is a credit to the BMW engineering department. As with any engine however there are good and bad ways to make extra power and torque, we leave all the stock BMW safety protocols in place meaning any issues with the car will be immediately flagged on the dashboard with a check engine light.

This 1R calibration is running on countless cars now in multiple countries, with some over 50,000 miles on the clock with out issue, we pride ourselves on offering not only fantastic performance, but also a great reliability record.

M140i/M240i tunes available from MAXD:

Stage 1 - Up to 420bhp with no or minimal hardware modifications, designed for 95 RON fuel, smooth progressive low boost factory-like calibration, a perfect addition giving extra drivability and economy.

Stage 1R - Up to 440bhp with no or minimal hardware modifications, designed for 98/99 RON fuel, more aggressive higher torque calibration, a perfect addition giving incredible gains in power, torque and economy.

Stage 2R - Up to 470bhp with minor bolt on hardware upgrades including TU fuel pump, intake and turbo downpipe. A very well mannered drive with a lovely hit of torque and a smooth progressive lift in power. Dwarfing the competition and giving you the full potential of the standard turbo when used with the full list of simple bolt on parts.

Stage 3R - Up to 560bhp with the Pumaspeed X49R hybrid turbo and all available bolt on hardware. The most powerful hybrid turbo mapping available with total reliability day-to-day, and perfect low rev manners, with almost 50 turbos sold world wide, you are in great company with this setup. 

Custom - Race spec software not for the faint hearted, custom mapped to your build, we can even offer dyno tuning at MAXD HQ in Burnley for those unique projects.

Valet Mode - Available on request to limit the vehicle to minimal performance, ideal if you're leaving your car in the care of somebody else. 

Immobiliser Mode - Available on request to completely kill the cars ability to start and run, perfect for if you're leaving your car for a long period of time.

Stock - MAXD have a database of stock original equipment files, these are available on request.
 

What do we do and how long does the M140i/M240i 1R remap take?

Before we even touch your ECU, we do an initial visual vehicle health check to confirm there are no underlying issues which could be exacerbated by increasing your cars performance. We also plug in to your vehicles diagnostic port to perform a full health scan of the car to check for any stored error codes which you may not even know about!

The remapping process is relatively simple, we first connect your vehicle to our CTEK battery charger to ensure no voltage spikes or drops during the remapping process. Once hooked up to the charger, we plug into your vehicles OBD port and read the stock ECU data, we then update your specific ECU data with the new MAXD Stage 1R and import it back into your ECU via the OBD port again. 

Once the remapping process is complete we once again use the vehicles OBD port to reset any previously learned ECU values allowing your cars brain to make the most from the new calibration. This is then followed up with an in depth road datalogging session to confirm results and check for any minor running issues not picked up on the visual health check previously. 

All this is usually completed within the day in house.
 

What's after the Stage 1 Remap?

We have a Stage 2 remap that has been developed specifically for use with many other hardware modifications such as the R-Sport turbo downpipe, TU fuel pump and aftermarket intake system. The more powerful Stage 2 remap will max out all the breathing and exhaust modifications, and push the standard turbo as far as we believe is safe for this unit (around 470bhp).
