As seen on TV: the Bangers & Cash Fiesta ST150 resto-mod
150 to 180bhp, 280 to 300mm, and a lot of welding.
When Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics brought a 2006 Fiesta ST150 to Pumaspeed, the brief was an entry-level resto-mod: get the car properly healthy again, then make it better in every department. Here is what went into it, and where to watch it.

The brief: restore it, then improve it
The ST150 is the car that started our Fiesta story: our own demo ST150 was delivered in March 2005 and the 182 and 190bhp kits we developed on it are still best sellers twenty years on. So when the Bangers & Cash team wanted their 2006 car turned into a sensible, usable resto-mod, we knew exactly where to start. The job split into two halves: first the unglamorous work that makes a twenty-year-old Fiesta solid again, then the upgrades that make it quicker, stop better and handle properly, without turning it into something its next owner could not live with.
Engine: 150 to 180bhp
The whole exhaust side was replaced with Milltek Sport: the EVO2 4-1 manifold, a sports catalytic converter and a cat-back system. On top of that went a Pumaspeed air filter kit and a Pumaspeed remap, taking the car from the factory 150bhp to 180bhp. It is the same recipe our 180 package has used for years, because it works.

Brakes: 280 to 300mm
The standard 280mm front brakes made way for 300mm discs using the larger discs and caliper brackets from the Focus ST170, a well-proven upgrade that bolts on without exotic parts, finished with new performance brake pads. More bite, more fade resistance, and still a standard-looking setup.

Suspension and chassis: the unglamorous half
This is where the hours went. The car needed a lot of welding, a new rear axle, new wheel bearings and new front wishbone arms before any of the fun parts made sense. Then the chassis was tightened up with a full set of polyurethane bushes, new R-Sport exhaust hangers, 20mm lowering springs, powder-coated wheels and new tyres.
- Extensive welding repairs
- New rear axle
- New wheel bearings and front wishbone arms
- Full polyurethane bush kit
- New R-Sport exhaust hangers

- Powder-coated wheels and new tyres

Better in every department
Brakes, engine, suspension and chassis: every part of the car was enhanced, and that is the point of a resto-mod done properly. Nothing on it is exotic or fragile, every part is something we fit week in, week out, and the result is an ST150 that is faster, stops harder and feels tighter than it did when it left the showroom.
