World First: New Ford Ranger 2.3 EcoBoost PHEV on the Pumaspeed Dyno
A world first for the new Ranger 2.3 EcoBoost Hybrid.
The brand new Ford Ranger PHEV is in the Pumaspeed dyno cell today for development, and it is the first one in the world to be tuned.
This is the Milltek Sport demo car. It pairs Ford's 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine with an electric motor and a plug-in battery, a combination nobody else has had on a dyno for tuning yet. That makes it a genuine development project, and we are the first to get our hands on it.
We have spent years with the 2.3 EcoBoost in the Focus RS, Focus ST and Mustang, so we know this engine inside out. The Ranger hybrid adds a new layer, getting the petrol engine and the electric drive working together, and our team on the MAXD dyno is enjoying every minute of it.

The Ranger PHEV on our MAXD dyno today
What we are working on
- Baseline power and torque runs on the MAXD dyno
- Development of the 2.3 EcoBoost calibration alongside the hybrid system
- Working with Milltek Sport on their demo vehicle
Stay tuned for figures! We will post the dyno results as soon as development is done. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see them first.
