Newly developed in 2020, this 'B58R' forged engine is a newly built forged engine replacement for your X40i B58 BMW. It will sit in place of you standard engine, allowing you to run HUGE power; with components strong enough to withstand between 900-1,000 wheel horsepower. We have fitted this engine to our own M240i and seen fantastic results.

Before the engine was fitted, our M240i was standard and then went through some major changes to the point of being 530bhp with our Pumaspeed X37 hybrid turbo. At this point, we began stocking the Vargas VTT turbocharger range and we decided to take the leap and put the largest B58 VTT turbocharger, the GC+, onto our M240i which is capable of a huge 700bhp here on UK fuelling/dynos. To match this power however, we needed a stronger engine, and thus the B58R was born. The standard engine from the M240i is removed and all internals are taken out. The engine is re-worked to be in brand new condition before the forged pistons and rods are put inside in place of the OE ones. For the B58R, we use the CP 11:1 compression ratio pistons, and ZRP I beam rods (full spec below). We also use ARP assembly hardware and the same genuine BMW assembly tools that they use in the Germany factories for engine re-assmbly. Once re-built, the engine is dressed up with the factory plastics and the powder coated pieces for a more agressive look, and it's ready to put straight back into your X40i BMW for some serious power.

• Center to center is maintained under .001″ tolerance
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Computer generated stress analysis of con rods
• Optimal balancing for weight matched sets of ± 1gram

 

What do the options mean?

 

 

Exchange: The B58R forged engine is here in stock. When you order it, this is the engine you get. So we take you engine as exchange to turn into the next B58R for a future customer. If you send us your engine after, or if you have no exchange to send, you pay a surcharge so that we can purchase an engine and make it into a B58R. If you send an exchange after this, then the surcharge is refunded, if you don't have an exchange to send, or you want to keep your original engine, then you are not.

 

CNC Racing Ported Head: This is an optional extra where our engine builder custom CNC machines in extra air flow holes into the head to allow for big power to be made. The extra air flow allows for more combustion and therefore more power, and requires a custom CAD profile to be designed and CNC machine to be machined out. Our engine builder is the best in the business, so for big power this is an option worth considering, but is not essential for a daily car.
